Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get my bat?
Every bat is hand crafted, hand stained and finished when you order it. Because of that we have a normal lead time of 2-3 weeks.
Why Swing Wood?
The added weight of the wood bat and decreased sweet spot will give the hitter a better idea of proper mechanics and mishits. When a ball is mishit on a wood bat it will give the hitters hands instant feedback.
What size Bat should I get?
Why do Wood Bats break?
Wood bats tend to break when the hitter gets jammed or incorrect placement of the label in the swing. The barrel is the strongest part of the bat and as you move closer to the handle it will get weaker. When a player gets jammed on an inside pitch the vibraiton and stress put on the handle will break the bat. Another cause for breakage is non straight grain on the bat. If the grains are not straight this will allow the stress of hitting the ball break the bat much faster than with straight grain. All of our bats at Pleasant Hill Bat Co have straight grain and will pass a ink dot test.
Can a Wood bat be used in Little League?
Solid, one piece bats that adehere to Little League regualtions will be allowed for play with or without the USA mark. All of our bats are crafted from a single piece of wood.
How should I hold a wood bat?
When swiging a wood bat the hitter needs to pay attention to the label on the bat. While standing in the box the Pleasant Hill Bat Co label should be facing the hitter. The label is placed on the end grain of the bat(Maple, Birch) and the face grain of Ash. When holding the bat with the label up or dowon this will ensure the hitter is making contact on the strongest part of the bat.
